We believe church really happens in small groups where we pray, learn more about God, and encourage each other. Life is too hard to live it alone. We invite you to explore our small group ministry.

Core Commitments

of Young Adult and College Ministries

Our ministry to young adults and college students is based on several core commitments, the first being that God still moves and works in the same powerful ways that scripture so beautifully describes. We know that a large number of the verses in the Old and New Testament are constructed around powerful verbs in which God steps into history on humans’ behalf. We believe that the New Testament teaches that that a faithful church is not simply one that does the “right things,” but one in which God is actively moving. In New Testament times and now, His activity is a key indicator of our faithfulness. We say this from more than an academic perspective; we have seen Him do great things in our life and the lives of those around us. He has repeatedly shown us that He can do more than we can imagine.

Another commitment that informs our philosophy is that God’s kingdom is sovereign. When churches and ministries grow numb to the God’s passion for the lost, He does not stop working. He can move His work elsewhere, even among those we would never expect Him to use. We as a ministry wish to join with God, and so, we take it upon ourselves to reflect and change if we assess that that there is discrepancy between our conviction that God can and wants to move powerfully and what we see. Jesus asked the paralytic, “Do you want to get well?” We are committed to working with Christians that are ready to kneel before the Lord and invite Him in to work.

Lastly and most importantly, our ministry is based on the commitment that it is better to be Christ-like than “right.” We believe that we must emulate Paul’s example of meeting the lost on their terms. Operating in such a manner will put the burden of effort and maturity on the church to go to the lost whether they be up at the Temple, down by the river, or over in the market. Instead of expecting the lost to file into Bible studies, worship services, and other gatherings that were designed with only mature Christians in mind, we must think first, of course, of God and then be willing to include the lost in our most basic corporate plans. Having said that, no agenda, or progressive or conservative procedure is more important than people. Christ died for people, not agendas or procedures. Therefore, our first calling is not to force plans but to love people.
